Ranchi : A Special CBI Court at Ranchi, on December 23, 2017, convicted RJD Chief and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad and 14 others in a fodder scam relating to fraudulent drawal of Rs 95 lakh from Deoghar, Jharkhand, Treasury during 1991-94. The quantum of punishment would be pronounced on January 3, 2018. Former CM Jagannath Mishra and 6 other accused were acquitted in the case. All the 22 accused were present in the court.

Lalu had reached Ranchi on December 22 evening with his younger son and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly on Tejaswi Yadav, who expressed hope that the verdict would be in their favour.

Lalu had earlier been convicted in fodder scam case in 2013 and was disqualified from Lok Sabha and barred from contesting polls. The Supreme Court granted him bail in the case in December 2013.
