Patna: Former chairman of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife Usha Sinha, a former JD(U) MLA, were interrogated by the special investigation team (SIT) of Patna Police in connection with the Intermediate examination results scam. A Patna court on Wednesday allowed police to take them on three-day police remand and were taken out of Beur Central Jail.
Senior SP of Patna Manu Maharaaj told mediapersons that Pankaj Jaiswal, a liquor trader of Varanasi charged with giving shelter to the couple was also questioned by police which sought his police remand too. Lalkeshwar is alleged to have given affiliation to over 100 colleges after receiving payment of Rs 4 lakh each.

Police searched the residence of  former vice chancellor of Magadh University Arun Kumar who is related to  Singh. Arun Kumar’s son Vikash Kumar allegedly worked as a link between the managements of the private colleges and Singh. Police teams have been sent to New Delhi also where the Singh couple have invested in real estate. Singh  and Usha Sinha were arrested from Varanasi on Monday morning
