Patna : World No 72 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Lakshya Sen, 18, India, beat World No 160 Yusuke Onodera, 24, Japan, in a three-game thriller in the final to lift the men’s singles title at Yonex Dutch Open, a BWF Tour Super 100 tournament, at Netherlands, on October 13, 2019. This is his first BWF tour title. He won 5,500 BWF ranking points besides the cash prize for winning the title while Onodera secured 4,680 points plus cash prize.

Lakshya Sen beat Onodera 15-21, 21-14, 21-15 battling back from one game down in the final in 63 minutes. He won 57 rallies in the match to 50 by Onodera. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Onodera. Top seed and World No 17 Sameer Verma, India, had lost in the 3rd round of the tournament while 4th seed Sourabh Verma lost in the 2nd round.
