Lakshya Sen goes down fighting to Wang in 1st round of New Zealand Open

Patna : World No 71 Lakshya Sen, 18, India, went down fighting to World No 32 Wang Tzu Wei, 24, Taiwan, in the first round of Barfoot & Thompson New Zealand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 category tournament at Auckland, New Zealand, on May 1, 2019. Sen won the first game but lost the next two games to Wang.

Wang beat qualifier Sen 15-21, 21-18, 21-10 in 68 minutes in the first round at Eventfinda Stadium, Auckland, new Zealand. Wang won 57 points to 49 points by Sen. Wang won 6 consecutive points to 12 by Sen. It was first meeting between the two players.
