Patna : Kings XI Punjab(KXIP) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders  (KKR) by 9 wickets in the 18th match of IPL this season at Eden Garden, Kolkata, on April 21, 2018, in a match reduced to 13 overs each side due to rain under D/L method. KXIP won the toss but opted to bowl. With this win, KXIP now tops the points table.

The KKR scored 191/7 in 20 overs riding on 74 in 41 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes by opener Chris Lynn and 28 ball 43 with 6 fours by captain and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. Robin Uthappa made 34 in 23 balls with 5 fours and a six. It was a good total. But the match reduced to 13 overs each side as rain interrupted the play when KXIP were batting. For KXIP, Barinder Sran and Andrew Tye took two wickets each while captain Ravichandran Ashwin and Mujib Ur Rahman took one wicket each. Nitish Rana (3) was run out.

The KXIP were given a revised target of 125 in 13 overs. But, the KXIP scored 126/1 in only 11.1 overs riding on an unbeaten 62 in 38 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes by opener Chris Gayle and 60 in 27 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes by his opening partner and wicketkeeper Lokesh Rahul, who fell to spinner Sunil Narine. Mayank Agarwal remained not out on 2.
