Patna : Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 6 wickets in the IPL match at Punjab Cricket Association I S Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on April 8, 2018, night, with opener Lokesh Rahul, wicketkeeper, making 51 in only 16 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes and Karun Nair scoring 50 in 33 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. It was the second match of IPL 2018.
Yuvraj Singh was out for 12 while Mayank Agarwal made 7. David Miller, South Africa, and Marcus Stoinis, Australia, remained unbeaten on 24 and 22 runs respectively. KXIP, who were set a target of 167 runs by DD, scored 167/4 in 18.5 overs.
For DD, Rahul Tewatia, Trent Boult, Chris Morris, and Daniel Christian took one wicket each. Mohammad Shami gave away 26 runs in 2 overs while spiner Amit Mishra gave away 46 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, DD had scored 166/7 in 20 overs with captain Gautam Gambhir scoring 55 in 42 balls with 5 fours and a six and Rishabh Pant scoring 28 in 13 balls with 4 fours and a six. Gambhir was run out. South African Chris Morris remained not out on 27 in 16 balls with a four and a six. Opener Colin Munro, New Zealand, was out for only 4 while Shreyas Iyer made 11.
For KXIP, Mohit Sharma and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took two wickets each while captain Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel took one wicket each.
