Patna : Petra Kvitova, Czech Republic, 27, won the Qatar Open title defeating 2017 Wimbledon Champion Garbine Muguruza, 24, Spain, in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Doha on February 18, 2018. She had also won St Peterburg two weeks back. Kvitova had shocked World Number 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, in the semi-finals in three sets.

With her win at Doha, Kvitova has retuned to the top ten in the WTA rankings released on February 19, 2018. Kvitova, who lives at Monte Carlo, Monaco, had won Wimbledon women’s title in 2011 and 2014.

Caroline Wozniacki, 27, Denmark, remains Number 1 in the WTA rankings with 8,010 points closely followed by Simona Halep, 26, Romania, at Number 2 with 7,965 points. Muguruza is ranked third with 6,175 points while Elina Svitolina, 23, Ukraine,  is ranked 4th with 5,910 points. Karolina Pliskova, 25, Czech Republic, is ranked Number 5 with 5,080 points. Kvitova has jumped 11 places to be ranked 10th in the WTA rankings.
