Patna : Two time former Wimbledon Champion and World No 8 in WTA rankings Petra Kvitová, 28, Czech Republic, World No 9 Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, World No 15 Ashleigh Barty, 22, Australia, and qualifier and World No 33 Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 24, Belarus, reached the semi-finals of Sydney International, Sydney, Australia, a WTA event played on hard court, on January 10, 2010.

Kvitová beat three-time Grand Slam Champion and World No 2 Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, 6-4, 6-1 in the quarter-finals on January 10. Kvitová fired 4 Aces in the match to none by Kerber, the second seed. Kvitová won 4 break point while Kerber, thereigning Wimbledon Champion, won one.
