Patna : World No. 10 Petra Kvitova, 28, Czech Republic, lifted the Madrid Open women’s singles title defeating World No 20 Kiki Bertens, 26, Netherlands, in the final on May 12, 2018, late night. Two time Wimbledon champion Kvitova defeated Bertens in a tough three-set encounter 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, to win her fourth title in 2018. Kvitova lives at Monte Carlo. Kvitova had won Wimbledon singles title in 2011 and 2014. The win will improve Kvitova’s WTA rankings to be released on May 14, 2018. Bertens rankings will also improve.

Men’s final : World No 3 Alexander Zverev, 21, will play World No 7 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austria, in the men’s singles final of Madrid Open, a clay court event, on May 13, 2018. Zverev defeated Denis Dhapovalov, 18, Canada, in the semi-finals 6-4, 6-1.  Thiem beat Kevin Anderson, South Africa, in the semi-finals 6-4, 6-2, at La Caga Magica, Madrid, Spain.
