Patna : World No 6 in WTA rankings and two-time former Wimbledon singles champion Petra Kvitová, 28, Czech Republic, lifted women’s singles at Sydney International, a WTA event, beating World No 15 Ashleigh Barty, 22, Australia, in the final on January 12, 2019.

Kvitová beat Barty in a three-set encounter 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 in the final to win the singles title. Barty served 7 Aces in the match to 3 by Kvitová. Kvitová committed 10 double faults to 3 by her Australian opponent. Barty also won 6 break points to 4 by Kvitová. She also won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by Kvitová. Barty won 59 service points to 57 by Kvitová. Kvitová’s winning percentage on her first serve (69 %) was better than that of Barty ( 60%). But on second serve her winning percentage ( 61%) was lower than that of Barty ( 63%).
