New Delhi : Lunkholal Lhungdim, Chief of village Dampi, was kidnapped from village Kaprang in Churachandpur district, Manipur, by four armed individuals on July 5,  2019.  A rescue operation was launched by Assam Rifles (AR) in coordination with the local police which resulted in the release of the kidnapped individual on  July 6, 2019.

Intense search operations resulted in the apprehension of a Kuki insurgent and recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores on July 9 & 10, 2019.  The recoveries included  (a)  AK 56 Rifle – One, (b)  MA-3 Rifle -3, (c)  M4AI Carbine – One, (d)  HK 33 Rifle  –  One, (e)  AK 47 Rifle  – One, (f) 12 Bore Rifle  – 2, and  (g)  Chinese hand grenade  – One, according to a PIB release.  These timely operations have dealt a severe blow to the insurgent groups and exposed their nefarious designs of extortion and indulging in petty crimes.
