Patna : Heinrich Klassen scored an unbeaten 123 in 114 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes and David Miller scored 64 in 70 balls hitting 4 fours and a six as South Africa (SA) scored 291/7 in 50 overs in 1st ODI against Australia at Boland Park, Paarl, SA, on February 29, 2020. Chasing a target of 292, Australia were 28/1 after 5 overs losing the wicket of opener Aaron Finch ( captain). Finch fell to Lungi Nigidi for 10.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, SA lost their first wicket at zero when opener Janneman Malan fell to fast bowler Mitchell Starc for a duck. Quinton de Kock ( captain &wk) fell to Josh Hazlewood for 15 and it was 33/2. Temba Bavuma fell to Pt Cummins for 26 making it 48/3. Kyle Verreynne and Klaasen then added 78 runs for the 4th wicket. Verreynne fell to Cummins for 48 and it was 126/4.

Klaasen and David Miller added 149 runs for the 5th wicket. Miller fell to Cummins for 64 and it was 275/5. Andile Phehlukwayo also fell at the same score for a duck making it 275/6. Keshav Maharaj fell to Starc for 2 and it was 286/7.
