KKR score 175/6 against RR in 43rd match of IPL-12, Karthik hit 9 sixes & 7 fours

Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scored a competitive 175/6 in 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 43rd match of IPL-12 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, thanks to Dinesh Karthik’s blitzkrieg scoring an unbeaten 97 in 50 balls hitting 7 fours and 9 towering sixes.

Karthik treated all the RR pacers including Jofra Archer and Jayadev Unadkat with disdain taking them to the cleaners. KKR scored 48 overs in the last three overs. Karthik added 44 runs in 16 balls for the 7th wicket with Rinku Singh ( 3 not out). It was Karthik’s highest IPL score. RR had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, KKR lost their first wicket at zero and were 42/3 after 8.2 overs. Opener Chris Lynn and Subham Gill scored zero and 14 respectively. Both fell to fast bowler Varun Aaron. Nitish Rana fell to spinner Shreyas Gopal for 21 with 3 fours while Sunil Narine was run out for 11. Andre Russel fell to fast bowler Oshane Thomas for 14 in 14 balls hitting a six making it 119/5.  Carlos Brathwaite fell to Jayadev Unadkat for 5 making it 131/6.

For RR, Varun Aaron took 2/20 in 4 overs while Oshane Thomas took 1/32 in 4 overs. Jayadev Unadkat took 1/50 in 4 overs while spinner Shreyas Gopal took 1/31 in 3 overs.
