Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 25 runs in the IPL 2018 Eliminator at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on May 23, 2018, night, riding on superb bowling by their spinners Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav and explosive batting by their captain and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik and allrounder Andre Russel. KKR will now play Sunrisers Hyderbad (SRH) to decide who will play Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final. RR had to score 40 runs in the last two overs to win the match but they could score just 14 runs.

RR had won the toss but opted to bowl, Batting first, KKR made 169/7 in 20 overs riding on 52 in 38 ball with 4 fours and 2 sixes by their captain Dinesh Karthik and an unbeaten 49 in 25 ball with 3 fours and 5 sixes by Andre Russel. Subham Gill also scored 28 hittin 3 fours and a six.

Replying to the KKR total, RR made a strong start with their openers Ajinkya Rahane, captain, and Rahul Tripathy putting in 47 runs for the first wicket. Tripathy got out after scoring 20 hitting 2 sixes and a four. Rahane made 46 in 41 ball with 4 fours and six while Sanju Samson made 50 in 38 ball with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen, South Africa, remained not on 18 in 18 ball with just one four. Stuart Binny was out for a duck while Krishnappa Gowtham remained unbeaten on 9 with a six.

For KKR, Piyush Chawla took 2/24 while Kuldeep Yadav took 1/18. Prasidh Krishna took 1/28 in 4 overs.
