Patna : Kolkata Knights Riders (KKR) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 wickets in a cliffhanger in the second T20 match of IPL-12 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata,  on March 24, 2019, with Andre Russel playing a hurricane knock of 49 not out in just 19 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes and opener Nitish Rana scoring an explosive 68 in 47 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Robin Uthappa scored 35 in 27 balls with 3 fours and a six. Shubham Gill remained unbeaten on 18 in 10 balls with 2 sixes. Russel played an incredible innings making victory possible when it was looking impossible with 2 balls to spare.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar leaked away 21 in his 4th over ( 19th over) while Siddharth Kaul conceded 19 runs in his 4th over (18th over). Chasing a target of 182, the KKR scored 183/4 in 19.4 overs with Subham Gill hitting 2 sixes in the 20th over bowled by Shakib Al Hasan.

Earlier, batting first SRH scored 181/3 with David Warner, returning from a year long ban on playing international cricket after the ball tampering scandal in South Africa in 2018, scoring 85 in 53 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes and Jonny Bairstow scoring 39 in 35 balls with 3 fours and a six. Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten on 40 in 24 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. KKR had won the toss but opted to bowl.
