KKR beat KXIP by 31 runs in Indore IPL

Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Kings XI PUnjab (KXIP) by 31 runs in the high scoring 44th match of IPL 2018 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on May 12, 2018, with Andre Russel taking 3/41 in 4 overs and Prasidh Krishna 2/31 in 4 overs. KXIP had won the toss but opted to bowl. KKR made a massive 245/6 in 20 overs, their highest in the IPL bettering their previous best 222, with opener Sunil Narine scoring 75 in 36 ball hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes. In reply, KXIP scored 214/8 in 20 overs with opener Lokesh Rahul scoring 66 in 29 ball hitting 2 fours and 7 sixes.

KKR have now 12 points from 12 matches while KXIP have 12 points from 11 matches.

In the KKR innings, captain Dinesh Karthik also scored 50 in 23 ball hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes while Andre Russel made 31 in 14 ball hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Chris Lynn also made 27 hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes while Robin Uthappa scored 24 hitting 2 fours and a six. Nitish Rana made 11 in 4 ball hitting a six and a four. Subham Gill remained not out on 16 hitting 3 fours.

KXIP also made a solid start with the openers Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle putting a 57 run stand for the first wicket. But, Gayle departed when the score was 57 after scoring 21 hitting 2 fours and a six. Karun Nair was out for just 3 while Mayank Agarwal was out without scoring. KXIP captain, who failed to take any wicket in the KKR innings despite giving away 36 run in 2.4 overs, scored 45 runs in 22 ball hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes while Aaron Finch, Australia, made 34 in 20 balls hitting 3 sixes. Axar Patel made 19  hitting 2 fours and a six. Andrew Tye, who had taken 4/41 in KKR innings, scored 14 hitting a four and a six.
