Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in the 33rd match of IPL this season at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on May 3, 2018, riding on an unbeaten 57 in 36 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes by young Sbhubham Gill, 18, and an explosive unbeaten 18 ball 45 with 7 fours and a six by captain Dinesh Karthik. KKR have now 10 point from 9 matches in IPL 2018. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have 12 points from 8 matches whie CSK have 12 points from 9 matches.
KKR had won the toos but opted to bowl. CSK made 177/5 in 20 overs with captain M S Dhoni scoring an unbeaten 43 in 25 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes and opener Shane Watson, Australia, scoring 36 in 25 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Faf du Plessis, South Africa, made 27 in 15 balls with 4 fours and a six.
KKR scored 180/4 in 17.4 overs. Gill and Karthik were involved in an unbroken partnership of 83 run for the 5th wicket. Opener Sunil Narine, who had taken 2/20 in 4 over during CSK innings, made 32 in 20 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, while his opening partner Chris Lynn made 12 hitting 2 sixes. Robin Uthappa was out for 6 while Rinku Singh made 16.
For CSK, Lungisani Ngidi, South Africa, K M Asif, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each. KKR’s Sunil Narine was declared Player of the Match.
