Ara: Bhojpur and Punjab police, in a joint operation, recovered a three year old kidnapped child Shivam from village Gulab Chhapra under Barahara police station on November 1 and arrested Gopal Paswan in this connection. The child was kidnapped from Chetan Singh Colony under Shimlapur police station in Ludhiana, Punjab, three days before the Deepawali festival.

SHO, Barahara police station, Janmjay Rai  said that Gopal Paswan of village Gulab Chhapra in Bhojpur district ran a small shop under Shimlapuri police station area and had borrowed Rs 50,000 from his friend Raju there. Manoj Agrawal, father of Shivam of Chetan Singh Colony under Shimalapuri police station in Ludhiana was the guarantor but Gopal could not return the money. Manoj Agrawal pressurized him to return to money. When Gopal failed to find a solution, he kidnapped the three year old son of Manoj Agrawal on October 27, 2016, from his house as it was easy and came to his native village.

When Shivam was not found, the family members lodged an FIR with Shimlapuri police station. During investigation  police found that Gopal Paswan was also not seen ever since the boy was missing. Punjab police immediately contacted Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh who ordered the Barahra police to find out the child. In the meantime, two SIs of the Punjab Police Sanjiv Kumar and Bassant Pal reached here. Punjab Police with the help of their counterpart in Bhojpur conducted raid at the house of Gopal Paswan and recovered the child.
