Ara: Bhojpur police on Wednesday evening arrested Hareram Chaudhary of Belaur village under Udwantnagar police station and forwarded him to jail in connection with double murder at Belaur village under Udwantnagar police station late Tuesday evening. Police also seized a regular rifle and three dozen live cartridges from his possession. A named FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar police station against six persons including Ranjeet Chaudhary and Hareram Chaudhary on the statement of Rajnish Chaudhary, brother of one of the deceased Manish Chaudhary.
Umesh Chaudhary and his son Manish Chaudhary were killed at about 10pm on Tuesday on the outskirts of Belaur village under Udwantnagar police station when they were watching their field.
DIG Shahabad range Md. Rahman along with Bhojpujr SP Kshatranil Singh visited Belaur village on Wednesday to inquire into the incident and directed the SHO Udwantnagar police station to arrest the remaining accused at the earliest. The SP said that a police team has been formed and police are conducting raids at all the possible hideouts of the miscreants on the revelation of Hareram Chaudhary. The SP said that the murder of father and son was outcome of a war of supremacy between Butan Chaudhary and Ranjeet Chaudhary of Belaur village. Umesh Chaudhary was close to Butan Chaudhary and worked for him.
The SP said that the deceased Umesh Chaudhary had criminal background and five cases of murder, loot, arson were filed earlier against him with Udwantnagar police station. A case of firing was also lodged against him earlier with under Udwantnagar police station against Manish Chaudhary.
Once friends, Butan Chaudahry and Ranjeet Chaudhary became enemy and formed their own gangs. Ranjeet Chaudahry was shooter of Butan Chaudhary. At least four persons were killed in their gang war including Ranjeet’s brother Hemant Chaudhary and Butan’s acquaintance Champa Devi while Butan Chaudhary himself was injured.
Butan Chaudahry was arrested along with AK 47 and firearms before the panchayat elections and was sent to Ara jail but he continued his criminal activities from behind the bar hence shifted to Bhagalpur jail on the recommenfation of the Bhojpur SP. Ranjeet Chaudhary was said to be behind his arrest. It was said that the murder of Umesh Chaudhary and his son Manish Chaudhary, who were close to Butan Chaudhary, was a retaliatory action to avenge the murder of Hemant Chaudhary. Sources said that after the arrest of Butan Chaudhary, Umesh Chaudhary took the command in the area and worked for him.
