Kerber defeats Serena to win first Wimbledon title

Patna : World No 10 in WTA rankings Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, defeated 7 times champion Serena Williams, 36, USA, in straight sets to win her first Wimbledon women’s singles title on July 14, 2018, night. Kerber beat Serena 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

Serena though served 4 Aces in the match to just 1 by Kerber. Kerber won 4 break points to just 1 by Serena. Kerber had lost to Serena in the 2016 Wimbledon final. Kerber had won Australian Open and US Open titles in 2016. But, she did not do that well in 2017.
