Patna :  Top seed an World No 1 Ashleigh Barty, 24, Australia, crashed out of Australian Open (AO) 2021 suffering a shock three-set quarter-finals defeat at the hands of 25th seed Karolina Muchova, 24, Czech Republic, at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Australia, on February 17, 2021. World No 24 Jennifer Brady, 25, USA, the 22nd seed, also advanced to the semi-finals defeating compatriot and World No 61 Jessica Pegula, 26, in three-sets in quarter-finals at Rod Laver Arena on February 17.

Muchova and Brady will clash in semi-finals on February 18, 2021. In the first semi-finals the same day 3rd seed Naomi Osaka, 23, Japan, will face 10th seed Serena Williams, 39, USA.

Karolina Muchova beat 2020 AO semi-finalist Ashleigh Barty, the 2019 French Open Champion, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 rallying back from one set down. The Czech won 4 break points in the match to 3 by Barty. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Muchova though won 80 points during the match to 75 points by Barty. The Australian served 3 Aces in the match to 2 by the Czech.

Jennifer Brady beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in quarter-finals at Rod Laver Arena rallying back from one set down. Brady won 7 break points in the match to 4 by Pegula. Brady won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by Pegular. Brady, in all, won 80 points during the match to 63 points by Pegula. Brady fired 7 Aces in the match to none by Pegula.
