Patna : World No 42 Aslan Karatsev, 27, Russia, drubbed qualifier Lloyd Harris, 24, South Africa, in straight sets the final to lift the men’s singles title at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, at ATP 500 event, at Dubai, UAE, on March 20, 2021, night. Its is his first ATP title.
Karatsev, who had reached semi-finals of Australian Open in February 2021, routed World No 81 Harris 6-3, 6-2 in 75 minutes winning 3 break points and 3 games in a row during the match.
Harris though fired 8 SAces in the match to 3 by the Russian.Karatsev, in all, won 61 points in the match to 45 by the South African. The Russian committed two double faultsduring the match to 1 by Harris. Karatsev secured 500 ATP Rankings points for winning the title while runner-up Harris got 300 points.
