Muzaffarpur : Kanti Thermal Power Plant authorities have handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to the dependents of a Labourer Joginder Pandey, who died in a mishap on March 2, 2017, while working at the plant. AGM, HR, Kanti Bijli Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL), Manikant, said Pandey would also get compensation under Labour Laws.

The death of Pandey, a native of village Kaparpura under Kanti block, had rocked the power plant on March 3 with the labourers alleging that he would have been alive if the plant management and CISF officials reached him hospital in time. They raised slogans against the officials of power plant and CISF and even had heated exchange with them at the gate of the plant, which they had blocked in protest.

Former minister Ajit Singh reached the spot on March 3 evening and pacified the angry labourers by securing a compensation to Pandey. Singh also got the blockade removed though he too held the power plant authorities responsible for the death of Pandey. DSP Ajay Kumar too reached the place and brought the situation under control by March 3 night.
