Patna : Sanjay Kumar Singh, Joint Director, Industry Department, Bihar Government, became the first senior official in the state to be arrested for violating the Prohibition enforced on April 5, 2016. Singh was arrested on January 16, 2019, after alcohol was found at his residence during a raid conducted by Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) sleuths in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
A few bottles of liquor were found at Singh’s house which the sleuths informed the local police station following which he was arrested for violating the prohibition law. A Patna court on January 17, 2019, sent the joint director to jail for possessing liquor.
The SVU had conducted raid on Singh’s premises in Anandpuri locality in Patna on January 16. Singh’s salary account details showed that he hardly drew any money even as he was maintaining a high standard of living.
