Samastipur: Journalists staged demonstration at the district headquarters town of Samastipur on Saturday demanding a CBI probe into the killing of their colleague Rajdeo Ranjan at Siwan, immediate arrest of the criminals behind the killing and compensation to the bereaved family of the scribe.

The mediapersons shouted slogans against the government for deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Later, a meeting was held under the banner of Bihar Working Journalists’ Union (BWJU). Those who spoke said that the killing of the scribe was meant to gag the media. The journalists said gangsters were once again out to kill people. They said the law and order situation prevailing today reminded them of the ‘Jungle Raj’ when the former president of the JNUSU was gunned down at Siwan itself in the past.  Muzaffarpur journalists also demanded CBI probe into the murder of Rajdev.
