Arwal : Two armed youth shot at and seriously injured a Journalist Pankaj Mishra, who also runs a Customer Service Centre (CSC) of Punjab National Bank (PNB), at village Vanshi,  at Panapur under Vanshi police station in Arwal district in broad daylight on September 7, 2017, and looted Rs 1 lakh cash from him.

Confirming the incident, SDPO, Atwal, Shailendra Kumar, said that Pankaj Mishra was returning to Vanshi from PNB branch, Mali, on his bike with Rs 1 lakh cash. When he reached Panapur, two youth waved to him to stop. Mishra stopped his bike thinking the two youth wanted lift on his bike, the SDPO said adding suddenly the two youth took out their pistol and fired on him. The bullet hit Mishra’s back and he was rushed to Patna for treatment, the SDPO said.

Mishra hails from village Vanshi and the two criminals also belong to the same village, the SDPO said. He said that one of the two criminals Kundan had been arrested. The SDPO had revealed the names of the two criminals as they belong to his village. Police are, however, yet to recover the cash. Vanshi is one kilometre away from Mali.
