Patna : Jitu Rai, 30, India, won gold medal while Om Prakash Mitharwal, 22, India, won bronze medal in Men’s 10 m Air Pistol event at Gold Coast Commonwealt Games (CWG), Australia, on April 9, 2018. Jitu Rai, an Indian shooter of Nepal origin, created a CWG record with a score of 235.1 in the final. Mitharwal, who hails from Sihodi, Rajastham, had a score of 214.3 securing bronze for him.

Jitu Rai had also won gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 in 50 m pistol. He had also won gold medal at 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, in 50 m pistol.Rai, a Naib Subedar in the 11 Gorkha Rifles of Indian Army, spent his early life at Sankhuwasabha district of Nepal. He migrated to India and joined Indian Army in 2006 and is an Indian citizen. He competes in both 10m Air Pistol and 50m pistol events. Mitharwal also competes in these two events.
