Patna : Unseeded Jiri Vesely, 26, Czech Republic, beat 8th seed Egor Gerasimov, 27, Belarus, in a three-set thriller in final on February 9, 2020, to win the singles title at Tata Open Maharashtra, India, an ATP Would Tour event, at Pune, his second career title.
Vesely beat World No 90 Gerasimov 7-6, 5-7, 6-3 in final to lift the singles title. World No 107 Vesely hammered 26 Aces in the match to 10 by Gerasimov, who committed 3 double faults. Both the players won 2 break points each in the match. They also won 3 games each in a row in the match. Vesely won 68 service points to 63 by Gerasimov.
Vesely had hammered 28 Aces in his semi-finals match against 2nd seed Ricardas Berankis, Slovakia, on February 8, 2020, which too he had won in three sets.
