Ranchi (Jharkhand ) : Jharkhand state reported 9 more positive cases of Coronavirus while the first death due to the disease was reported from Bokaro General Hospital in Bokaro District putting state health department on its toes. Ranchi District administration pressed into service of 4 drones in Hindpiri locality of the state capital for round the clock vigilance and the period of 72 hours total quarantine has been extended with immediate effect.
Jharkhand has reported 13 confirmed cases of Coronavirus till date including 7 from Ranchi, five from Bokaro, and one from Hazaribagh. According to Health Secretary Nitin Kulkarni among the fresh 9 cases in last 18 hours, 5 found positive are from Ranchi and 4 from Bokaro.
In Bokaro, a 75 years old man from Sadam (Gomia) who was admitted to Bokaro General Hospital on April 8, 2020, evening, due to breathing problem, died in the ICU in the wee hours on April 9, 2020, and it was attributed to Covid-19.
Among those who have tested positive so far, 7 are from Hindpiri locality in Ranchi who came in contact with a Malaysian woman returning from Delhi. She had visited the colony on March 31, 2020, after which 6 members of the same family came in contact with her.
Of the five cases reported from Bokaro, four are from the same family of village Telo whose 54 year old lady had visited Dhaka (Bangladesh) and was tested positive on April 5, 2020, while three other family members also tested positive on April 9, 2020.
Ranchi DC R M Ray while addressing a presser on April 9 informed that all five new confirmed cases in Ranchi are from Hindpiri which has now been sealed while door to door survey is being conducted and 4 drones are also helping in keeping people indoors. He has flashed a phone number 1950 for urgent help.
Bokaro DC Mukesh Kumar has ordered for sanitisation of entire area of Sadam after death of an elderly person from the place while door to door survey is being conducted at village Telo.
