Ranchi (Jharkhand) : Jharkhand High Court (HC) on August 28, 2020, deferred till September 11, 2020, hearing on RJD Chief Lalu Prasad’s bail petition in multi crore Fodder Scam as the CBI lawyer fell ill. The case relates to fraudulent drawal of Rs 33.67 crore from Chaibasa Treasury in 1992-93 in which Lalu is serving five years’ jail term. At present, Lalu is undergoing treatment at RIMS, Ranchi.

Hundreds of RJD supporters standing near the campus of Jharkhand High Court appeared dejected after they came to know that the hearing on the bail petition of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad had been deferred till September 11, 2020. The case was deferred as senior counsel of CBI got indisposed and on his behalf junior counsel prayed for next date in the bail petition case. Lalu has so far been convicted in three Fodder Scam cases.

Lalu, in his bail petition, has prayed that as he is suffering from several ailments and has already served about 30 months of imprisonment hence he should be allowed bail.
