Ranchi ( Jharkhand) : Having taken lessons from Deoghar stampede three years ago witnessed near Baba Baidyanath temple which brought bad name to the state, Jharkhand Government has made elaborate security for upcoming Deoghar Shrawani Mela which kicks off on July 28, 2018, the first day of Shravan month, deploying more than 12,000 cops on round the clock duty expecting more than one crore devotees. The devotees visit the temple to offer their pujas to Baba Baidyanath Dham.
As per Jharkhand IG (Operations) Ashish Batra, apart from deployment of 12,000 police personnel at different locations of Deoghar district, police administration has even kept four battalions of para-military forces as reserve to tackle any untoward incident making it clear to all pilgrims visiting Deoghar that the administration was fully geared up to give its best to them.
To provide foolproof security, an additional 29 temporary police stations or police posts have been temporarily created in both Deoghar and Bhagalpur (Bihar) districts in Jharkhand and Bihar states respectively, where cops have been already posted to take command from July 27, a day before start of Shravani Mela, a month long festival.
As maximum crowd of ‘Kanwariyas’ are normally witnessed on all Mondays who walk 100 km from Sultanganj (Bihar) with Ganga water to offer Gangajal to Baba Baidyanath Shivlinga, Deoghar district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha has made special security arrangements outside the temple, which is by pipeline connected inside the temple.
Taking extra precaution during Maoists’ four- day Bandh Call beginning July 28, Ashish Batra promised that round the clock patrolling in the entire Santhal Pargana has begun to flush out the naxalites.“ We are prepared and geared up to maintain law and order at any cost,” stated Batra while talking to this Reporter on phone.
