Gaye: Excise superintendent of Gaya has been directed to arrest the controversial JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi for violating the Bihar Excise Act.Principal secretary of excise department KK Pathak said on Tuesday evening since liquor bottles were recovered from her house during a search for her son Rocky Yadav, she invited the penal provisions of the Act.”Mere recovery of liquor bottles are enough evidence against her and she would be arrested.
Under the Act,there is provision of ten years imprisonment and fine of Rs ten lakh for possessing liquor which has been banned since April 5.
It may be recalled the state excise department had filed cases at Patna and Narkatiyaganj against Congress MLA Vinay Verma who was caught in a sting operation claiming he would offer all kinds of liquor to his guests.
