Gopalganj : JD(U) MLA from Kuchaikot constituency in Gopalganj District Amrendra Kumar Pandey alias Pappu Pandey, one of the accused in Rupanchak triple murder case under Hathua police station in the district, said on May 28, 2020, that he and his family members  were not involved in this crime. ” We have been falsely implicated in this case for political reasons. Police are investigating the case and me and my family members  should be  hanged if found guilty,” Pandey said.

Amrendra Kumar Pandey, a four-term MLA, said that his relative Munna Tiwari  of village Repura was killed but the six named accused of this case  are yet to be arrested by police. The JD(U) MLA said his leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar neither protects any guilty person   nor implicates anyone in false case.

Pandey said that RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejaswi  Yadav has said that he will start his march from Patna to Gopalganj.  “I am also ready  to march to Patna from Gopalganj,” the Kuchaikot MLA said. Lashing out at Tejaswi Yadav, Pandey said that he is a first time MLA whereas he is a fourth term MLA. “I am a mass leader. Tejaswi Yadav is himself involved in scandal and accusing me of being a criminal,” Pandey said. Tejaswi had given an ultimatum to the government to arrest Pandey by May 28, 2020, failing which he will march  to Gopalganj with the RJD legislators.

A senior police official said that police were looking into the location of JD(U) MLA’s cellphone and its call details. They are also scrutinising the CCTV footage of the place of occurrence.

Saran DIG Vijay Kumar is monitoring the investigation  into both Rupanchak and Repura incidents in which three and one person were killed respectively. ADG HQs Jitendra Kumar said  that a CID team  has already been sent to Gopalganj for assisting district police  in collecting evidences against the accused in the two incidents. An  SIT has also been formed under additional SP, Hathua Sub -Division, to crack the two cases.
