Ara : JD(U) leader Vijyendra Yadav surrendered before an Ara  Court on January 8, 2021, in connection with alleged display of firearms and also imparting training to a teenage boy under Gadhani police station areain Bhojpur District in South Bihar. He was granted bail.

A video had gone viral on social media showing MLA Vijyendra Yadav imparting arms training to a teenage boy at a public place under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district. Police lodged a named FIR with Gadhani police station against him in this regard and also seized the arms. Vijendra Yadav had unsuccessfully contested 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections on JD(U) ticket.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that the teenage boy was firing in densely populated area at the behest of Vijendra Yadav which was  violation of arms license rules. He said that the said gun was seized and the DSP and police station concerned have been directed to take legal action in this regard.

Vijyendra Yadav said that on the direction of Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha, he had already deposited his arms at an arms  shop at Ara on January 5, 2021. The DM is custodian of arms in the district and he deposited the arms on his direction but police, without getting permission from the DM, got the shop opened at night and seized his arms which is illegal. He said the shop can be opened only after the permission of the DM and that too in the presence of a magistrate. He alleged that Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai is of feudal mentality but this time had had dialed a wrong number. Vijyendra Yadav said that the video was about three months old when he was firing to test the arms at his home at the time of Deepawali last year. Police had lodged FIR against him without verification and inquiry, the former MLA said.

The SP, however, did not reacted to the remarks of the former MLA and said that the action was taken on the basis of a video that showed  a village boy firing with a gun which is against license rule.
