Ara : Bhojpur police arrested Loha Mahto from Ara on January 10 evening in connection with murder of an RTI worker and JD(U) leader Mrityunjay Singh six months ago at Jagdishpur while another wanted criminal in the case Chunnu Mahto surrendered in the court the same day under mounting police pressure. Later, police forwarded them to jail.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said Loha Mahto is native of Ratnadh village under Garhani police station and Chunnu Mahto is a native of Purab locality under Jagdishpur police station. The SP said that about half a dozen armed persons had shot dead Mrityunjay Singh of Vishan Tola locality under Jagdishpur police station on June 10, 2016, near Magani Chowk when he was returning from the market on his bicycle after taking medicines. An FIR was lodged with Jagdishpur police station on the statement of deceased’s younger brother Markandey Singh and police had arrested Mukesh Kumar alias Guddu at that time. The SP said one more accused of the case is yet to be arrested.
