Patna: Union human resources development minister Prakash Javadekar has directed principals of all Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in the country to prevent Muzaffarpur Kendirya Vidyalaya type incident in which a dalit student was brutally assaulted in the classroom and school management did not take any action against the guilty students.
Javadekar, in his tweet, informed the teachers and students that disciplinary action has been taken against the school principal Rajiv Ranjan who has been suspended and all teachers and non- teaching staff had been transferred from the school. KVS management on October 20, 2016, posted seven teachers in the school .
Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghthan and joint secretary in ministry of HRD Sanosh Kumar Mall, a Bihar cadre IAS officer, on Thursday talked to all regional deputy commissioners and assistant commissioner through video conference and directed them to maintain discipline in the schools and prevent Muzaffarpur type incident.
Police have arrested two students who have been sent on two weeks judicial custody to Remand Homes and investigation under SC/ST(prevention of atrocities) Act has been started against five other students. Some teachers have also been questioned.
The school management did not take any interest in the case though the victim student had complained to him. When the video of the assault went viral on social media and TV channels, the union minister of state for HRD Upendra Kushwaha acted and asked the KVS commissioner to hold a probe into the incident. A team of KVS headed by a deputy commissioner went to Muzaffarour and ordered rustication of two students with immediate effect, suspension of principal and transfer of entire teaching and non-teaching staff.
