Ara : Hundreds of activists of the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) blocked the Gopali Chowk-Station road near Sadar Hospital, Ara, since 6.30pm on December 13, 2018, paralysing movement of vehicles after about 40 anti-social elements allegedly supporters of Dr Kumar Jitendra threatened them with dire consequences if they did not call off their agitation against the doctors.

About a dozen activists of the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) were agitating against conduct of the doctors of Sadar Hospital, Ara,  and sat on indefinite fast on December 13 on the campus of the Sadar Hospital around 6.30 pm when about 40 anti-social elements attacked them and also threatened them with dire consequences if they did not call off their agitation immediately. T

It was said that Dr Kumar Jitendra, an orthopaedic surgeon, had operated a woman and fixed a steel rod in her leg but the steel rod came out of the leg after two months of operation that caused great resentment among her family members and also created a ripple in the doctors’ circle. The doctors of the Ara Sadar Hospital, on the direction of Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, Dr Satish Kumar Sinha operated on the woman and rectified the fault but dereliction of part of Dr Kumar Jitendra drew public wrath and the people demanded his dismissal.

In the meantime, Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar constituted an inquiry committee under Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Shubham Shubhankar on December 12 and directed it to submit its report at the earliest. A team of three doctors has also been formed to inquire into the matter and this committee would submit its report to the Civil Surgeon.
