Ara: Bhojpur police arrested Mukesh Kumar alias Guddu, husband of Rita Devi, chief councillor, Jagdishpur Nagar Panchayat, on Friday evening in connection with murder of JD(U) general secretary, Jagdishpujr block, Mrityunjay Singh of Bishen Tola under Jagdeishpur police station late Thursday evening when he was returning home from market. Mukesh was forwarded.
Police acted on the basis of FIR lodged by Markandey Singh, advocate and brother of the deceased. The assailants had used 9mm pistol and countrymade pistol for killing Mrityunjay. They pumped several bullets into his body and the doctor at Ara Sadar Hospital took out five bullets though some bullets could not be taken out.
The SHO, Jagdishpur police station, said that Mrityunjay Singh had got some clue regarding corruption in Jagdishur Nagar Panchayat and was to disclose them very soon. He got all these information through Right to information (RTI) and his activities had angered Mukesh Kumar. The SHO said that Mukesh Kumar with the help of Chunnu Mahto, who had allegedly played key pivotal role in kidnapping of Dr Radhika Raman, killed Mrityunjay. He said police were searching for Chunnu Mahto and hoped he would be arrested very soon.
