ITBP personnel & family members allegedly thrashed by RJD MLA, security guards

Ara : RJD MLA from Barhara assembly constituency in Bhojpur district Saroj Yadav and his security guards allegedly thrashed an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel Jai Prakash Maharaja and his family members at village Chandrapura under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district on April 28, 2019, late evening, after an autorickshaw carrying them did not give side to his car. When the ITBP personnel went to the Koelwar police station to lodge an FIR, a police personnel sent them back saying that the Station House Officer (SHO) was not present.

RJD MLA, Saroj Yadav, when contacted, refused to comment on the incident. SHO, Koelwar police station, refused to say anything on the incident.

Jai Prakash Maharaja, a resident of village Mohammadpur under Koelwar police station, had come on leave and was going to his native village along with his family members in the late evening on April 28, 2019, in an autorichshaw from Koelwar railway station. Barahara MLA Saroj Yadav was coming on his vehicle which was just behind the autorickshaw. When the driver of the autorickshaw did not give side, the MLA’s driver overtook the autorickshaw near village Chandrapura and stopped. The MLA and his security guards flared up and allegedly beat up the ITBP personnel and when his wife Poonm Devi, his daughters Jiya and Khushi and son Radheshyam came to his rescue, they did not spare them either.

Poonam Devi, wife of the ITBP personnel, alleged that the RJD MLA thrashed all her family members and also misbehaved with her. She said that police did not lodge an FIR against the MLA.
