Patna : With the Income -Tax (IT) department issuing summons to RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti, MP,  and her husband Shailesh Kumar to record their statements in connection with its probe into  benami land deals and a tax evasion case, the problems for Lalu appear to have compounded as the Supreme Court had recently directed the CBI to complete trial in a few more fodder scam cases involving him and others in nine months.

The IT summons to Misa and Shailesh follows the arrest of chartered accountant (CA) Rajesh Kumar Agrawal by the Enforcement Directorate on May 22. Agrawal allegedly aided in illegal transactions involving Lalu’s kin. IT sources said the department has asked Bharti, a Rajya Sabha member, and her husband Shailesh Kumar to appear before the investigating officer (IO) here in the first week of June.

The department had on 16 May searched multiple premises of about two dozen entities connected to this case and seized documents and computer hardware.
