IT raids at jewellery shop, private clinic of doctor at Ara

Ara : Sleuths of Income Tax Department from Patna and Ara conducted raids at a private clinic of Dr J K Singh, ‘Shishu Kalyanj Kendra’ at Pakari under Nawada police station, Ara,  and also at a Jewellery shop, “Alankar Jewellers” at Gopali Chowk under Ara Town police station simultaneously on March 1, 2019, afternoon, that continued till wee hour on March 2. As the news of IT raids spread, almost all the private clinics were closed at Ara and even shopkeepers put their shutters down.

The IT team demanded details of income and expenditure, source of income, investment and Income Tax return details and also queried Dr J K Singh about noticeable differences between the actual income and the income shown in the Income Tax return.

On the other hand, a lady Income Tax officer reached Alankar Jewellers at Gopali Chowk in guise of a customer first and later other Income Tax officer reached there and checked gold and silver jewellery at the shops, income and expenditure register, Income Tax return and other relevant papers and tallied them. Sources in the Income Tax Department said that the officials are scrutinising all the relevant papers.
