Isner, Evans enter QFs of ATP Delray Beach Open

Patna : World No 9 in ATP rankings John Isner, 33, USA, and World No 148 Daniel Evans, 28, Great Britain, a qualifier, entered the quarter-finals (QFs) of Delray Beach Open, an ATP 250 points tennis tournament, at Delray Beach, Florida, USA, on February 21, 2019.

Isner beat World No 133 Lucas Lacko, 31, Slovakia, 6-4, 6-3 in the Round of 16 in 1 hr 10 minute. Isner hammered 18 Aces in the match to 4 by Lacko, who committed 4 double faults. Isner broke Lacko’s service thrice in the match. Isner also won 4 games in a row. Lacko had reached 3rd round of Australian Open and Wimbledon twice each in the past. Isner will face World No 51 Adrian Mannarino, 30, France, in the quarter-finals.

Evans beat World No 98 Lloyd Harris, 21, South Africa, 6-0, 6-2 in the Round of 16. Evans broke Harris’ service 6 times in the match. Harris broke Evans’ service only once. Harris though served 3 Aces in the match to none by Evans. Evans, who had reached 4th round of Australian Open in 2017 and 3rd round of Wimbledon in 2016, won 9 games in a row in the match to 2 by Harris. Evan will face World No 52 Andreas Seppi, Italy, in the quarter-finals.
