Motihari : An Iranian national Hamed Akbari, 38, was apprehended near India-Nepal border in Raxaul in East Champaran District in North Bihas as he did not have an Indian visa. Hamed was wearing robes of a Buddhist monk when he was held during the routine search of Indo-Nepal Friendship Bus on December 28, 2019, coming from Bodh Gaya, according to an Immigration Officer at Raxaul.

The Immigration Officials recovered an Iranian passport and a UNHCR card from Hamed, a resident of Tehran, who claimed to be a Buddhist monk and told officials that he was living in India since 2008 and was presently staying at Bodh Gaya. After his interrogation by officials of various agencies, Hamed was handed over to Raxaul police, said an Immigration officer.
