Kishanganj : Police busted an IPL betting racket by arresting two persons and seizing Rs 11.48 lakh cash at Kishanganj under Purnia Division in Bihar on May 23, 2018, night. Kishanganj SP Kumar Ashish on May 25 said that police arrested Ajit Singh alias Suraj Singh, 42, and Mukesh Duggal, 35, from Dharamganj locality and Balmandir Road respectively under Kishanganj police station in Kishanganj district during a raid which lasted nearly four hours.

Police seized Rs 11.48 lakh cash, several documents relating to IPL betting, 11 mobile phone, 6 Laptops, CPU, DVR, during raid conducted on May 23 at the residence of Ajit Singh in Dharamganj locality at Kishanganj, Kishanganj SP said adding that Ajit Singh and Mukesh Duggal were arrested the same night and sent to jail on May 24, 2o18. Police lodged an FIR against 5 persons in this connection but three accused are absconding, the SP said adding police are conducting raid to arrest them a th earliest.

SP Kumar Ashish, a 2012 batch Bihar cadre IPS officer, said that Ajit Singh had got CCTV installed at his Dharamganj residence and police were looking into it as well as the WhatsApp chats and mobile phone calls and Laptops to get further info about the racket and its network. Police also seized 18 bank pass-books from Ajit Singh’s residence.

Police had received information that a betting racket was active here. Based on the inputs,  raids were conducted by a team led by Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Sadar, Firoze Akthar, and Sub Divisional Police Officer Akhilesh Kumar in Dharmganj locality on May 23 night, said SP Kumar Ashish. Two other persons were rounded up during the raids on suspicion of heir involvement in the racket, but were let off after being made to sign PR bonds, he added.
A rate-card showing how much money was quoted for which IPL team and other related documents were also seized during the raids.
