Patna : India won the ICC Uner-19 World Cup for the fourth time easily defeating Australia by 8 wickets in 38.5 overs in the final at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, on Feberuary 3, 2018, with opener Manjot Kalra scoring an explosive 101 not out in 102 balls hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes. Wicketkeeper Harvik Desai remained unbeaten on 47 in 61 balls hitting 5 fours. For Australia Param Uppal and Will Sutherland took one wicket each.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Australia were all out for 216 in 47.2 overs with all rounder Jonathan Merlo hitting 76 runs. Chasing the victory target of 217, India made 220/2 in 38.5 overs attaining the target at a faster pace.

India has become the only team to have won the ICC U-19 World Cup times. Earlier, India had won the Under-19 World Cup in 2000, 2008 and 2012. Australia has won the Under-19 World Cup three times.

India Captain and opener Prithvi Shaw made 29 and Subham Gill 31. The wicket of Gill fell when the team score was 131. Shaw and his opening partner Kalra were involved in a 71 run partnership for first wicket. Kalra and Gill were involved in a 60 run partnership for second wicket. Kalra and wicketkeeper Harvik Desai were involved in an unbroken partnership of 89 runs for the third wicket.
