Raxaul :  Government of India (GoI) will reconstruct buildings of 56 higher secondary schools  in seven worst earthquake hit districts  of
Nepal under India-Nepal Economic Co-operation Programme through a grant of 2.95 billion Nepali Rupees (NR). The  Indian Embassy  in Nepal and Education Ministry, Nepal Government,  on June 8, 2020, signed Memorandum  of  Understanding  (MoU) at Kathmandu for re-construction of these school buildings.

According to a press release of Indian Embassy in Nepal, these 56 school buildings will be reconstructed at Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Dolakha, Ramechchap, Sindhupalchowk, and Karvepalchowk districts on northern  border of Nepal. They were extensively damaged in the earthquake in 2015. The Central Building Research Institute  (CBRI), Roorkee, a premier  institute of India  in earthquake resilient  reconstruction, will provide technical support in reconstruction  of these school buildings.

The school infrastructure will consist of  classrooms, academic blocks, laboratory, apart from furniture  for students and teachers. The GoI
remains committed  to continue  collaboration with Nepal government in its socio economic development, the release said. Earlier,
GoI had supported construction of  50,000 houses  in Gorkha and Nawakot  districts which were devastated  in the earthquake.
