New Delhi : For the second consecutive day, India tested over 10 lakh COVID-19 samples on September 1, 2020. A total of 10,12,367 samples were tested on September 1 taking the tally to 4,43,37, 201 in the country. The country had tested 10,16,920 COVID samples on August 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, the massive increase in the number of COVID patient being declared cured/discharged continues in the country reaching 29,01,908 in the country at 8 am on September 2, 2020, an increase of 62,026, exceeding the number of active cases by 21,10,626. The number of active cases in India was 8,01,282 on September 2, 2020. On  September 1, 2020, a total of 65,081 patients were declared cured/discharged while on August 31, 2020,  altogether 60,868 patients were declared cured.

India has reported 37,69,523 COVID cases till date of which 29,01,908 patients have been declared cured/discharged with the recovery rate being 76.98%. A total of 78,357 new COVID cases were reported in the country during last 24 hours. The number of active cases (8,01,282) is 21.26% of the total COVID cases reported in the country so far.

Altogether 5,84,537 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,74,172 in Tamilnadu, 3,39,876 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,54,626 in Karnataka, 1,56,728 in Delhi, 1,76,677 in UP, and 1,37,616 in West Bengal, till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll jumped to 66,333 on September 2, 2020, with 1,045 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 320 from Maharashtra, 135 from Karnataka, 96 from Tamilnadu, 84 from Andhra Pradesh, 56 from UP, 55 from West Bengal, 59 from Punjab, 14 from Gujarat, 32 from MP, and 18 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.76 % in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on September 2, 2020, is : Maharashtra (24,903), Tamilnadu (7,418), Karnataka (5,837), Delhi (4,462), Andhra Pradesh (4,053), Uttar Pradesh (3,542), West Bengal (3,283), Gujarat (3,034), Madhya Pradesh (1,426), Rajasthan (1,069),  Punjab (1,512), Telengana (846), J&K (717), Haryana (706), Bihar (621), Odisha (503), Jharkhand (428), Assam (315), Uttarakhand (280), Kerala (298),  Chhattisgarh (287), Puducherry (240), Goa (194), Tripura (118), Chandigarh (57),  Andaman & Nicobar (46), Himachal Pradesh (40), Ladakh (35), Manipur (29), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (12), Arunachal Pradesh (7), Sikkim (4), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 709 in the state on September 1, 2020.
