Patna : India scored just 110/7 in 20 overs in a Group 2 match against New Zealand (NZ) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on October 31, 2021, night, as fast medium bowler Trent Boult ( 3/20) and spinner Ish Sodhi (2/17) wreaked havoc. It was horrible display of batting by India. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 26 in 19 balls with 2 fours and 1 six while all-rounder Hardik Pandya scored 23 in 24 balls with just 1 four. NZ had won the toss and opted to bowl.
Batting first, India lost their first wicket that of opener Ishan Kishan with only 11 runs on board. Ishan fell to fast medium bowler Tim Southee for 4. His opening partner K L Rahul fell to Trent Boult for 18 in 16 hitting 3 fours and it was 35/2. Rohit Sharma, who was sent one down, fell to spinner Ish Sodhi for 14 in 14 with 1 four and 1 six of fast bowler Adam Milne and it was 40/3 in 7.4 overs. Captain Virat Kohli also fell to Sodhi for 9 in 17 balls and it was 48/4 after 10.1 over.
Rishabh Pant (wk) fell to Adam Milne for 12 making it 70/5.. hardik Pandya fell to Boult for 23 in 24 balls and it was 94/6. All-rounder Shardul Thaku also fell to Boult for zero making it 94/7. Boult took two wickets in 19th over.
