Patna : India had scored 305/4 in 46.4 overs against Pakistan when play was stopped due to rain in the 22nd match of ICC World Cup at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, UK, on June 16, 2019, with opener Rohit Sharma, the Hit Man, scoring 140 in 113 balls, his 24th ODI century and 2nd in 2019 World Cup, hitting 14 fours and 3 sixes and Captain Virat Kohli batting on 71 in 62 balls .with 6 fours. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl.

Openers Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul added 136 runs for the first wicket. Lokesh Rahul fell to fast bowler Wahab Riaz for 57 in 78 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Rohit then added 98 runs with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. Rohit fell to fast bowler Hasan Ali for 140. Kohli added 51 runs with all-rounder Hardik Pandya for the 3rd wicket. Pandya fell to fast bowler Mohammad Amir for 26 in 19 balls with 2 fours and a six. M S Dhoni (wk) also fell to Mohammad Amir for just 1 run and it was 298/4.

Rohit scored his 24th century in his 203rd innings. He scored his century in 85 balls. Rohit had also scored century against Pakistan in Asia Cup in 2018. Kohli, on the other hand, reached the milestone of 11,000 in ODIs on June 16.
