Patna : Asked to bat first by Sri Lanka, who won the toss, India scored 174/4 in the first first match of Nidahas Trophy T20I tri-series on March 6, 2018, at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, riding on an explosive 90 in 49 balls by opener Shikhar Dhawan and 37 in 35 balls by Manish Pandey.

Dhawan hit 6 sixes and 6 fours in his 90 while Pandey hit 3 fours and a six in his 37. It was Dhawan’s fifth fifty in T20I. Dhawan and Pandey were involved in a 95 run partnership for the third wicket. Dhanusha Gunathilaka took the wicket of Dhawan.

Captain Rohit Sharma was out without scoring to pacer Dushmantha Chameera while Suresh Raina was bowled by Nuwan Pradeep for 1. Rishab Pant was out for 23 in 23 balls on the last ball of the innings after hitting a six and a four. Pant failed to accelerate the scoring rate. Wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik remained not out on 13 in 6 balls hitting 2 fours.

For Sri Lanka, Dushmantha Chameera took 2/33 while Pradeep took 1/38. Gunathilaka, and Jeevan Mendis took one wicket each.  Chameera took the wickets of Sharma and Pant.

In reply, Sri Lanka were 47/1 in 3.2 overs with Kusal Perera unbeaten on 33 in 10 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. Kushal Mendis was out for 11 to spineer Washinton Sunder.
